Stepha’N Quicksey
When you see an apostrophe, you may see ownership. Or perhaps you see what’s missing in the conjunction it forms.
To see Stepha’N Quicksey, Director of Youth and Community Engagement at Life Remodeled, is to see selflessness: You see more giving than receiving… You see a gift for filling in the blanks.
A proud native Detroiter who grew up learning to see the best in his hometown, Stepha’N graduated from Osborn High School in 2013 as both Salutation and Senior Class President. From there, he attended Grand Valley State University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Public and Nonprofit Administration, as well as a Master of Arts in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership, with an emphasis in Community Impact.
Stepha’N spent over 10 years working for several youth-serving organizations, including Grand Valley State University’s Rapid Education Prototyping Program, Neighborhood Service Organization, Michigan Future Schools, United Way for Southeastern Michigan, and the Skillman Foundation.
These experiences only endeared Stepha’N to his hometown more, inspiring him to look beyond the glimmering downtown wherDetroit’s renaissance was clearly underway, to see the real needs of the neighborhoods and communities truly defining its 143 square-miles.
And that brought Stepha’N to Life Remodeled.
Today he works with students, families, schools, neighborhood residents, nonprofits, and key community stakeholders to improve educational outcomes and foster lasting neighborhood revitalization. It’s his ability to create authentic and lasting connections between these groups that makes Stepha’N such a critical member of the LR team..
In his spare time, Stepha’N enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and listening to music (especially gospel).
