We’re thrilled to share that major construction has officially begun at Anchor Detroit! In November 2024, Life Remodeled (LR) reached a major milestone as work started on transforming the 7.55-acre site of the former historic Dominican High School on Detroit’s east side. This project marks the launch of LR’s second Opportunity Hub, designed to provide health & wellness programs, workforce development, youth initiatives, arts and culture, and essential community resources for the Denby neighborhood.

Led by the expert team at Dixon Construction, Phase 1 of construction will focus on critical infrastructure upgrades, laying the foundation for a vibrant community space. Key improvements include:

  • New boiler system for improved energy efficiency
  • Brand-new elevator to enhance accessibility
  • Roof replacement for long-term durability
  • Revamped parking lot for better convenience and safety
  • White-boxing of tenant suites to prepare for future partners

Phase 1 is scheduled for completion in December 2025.

While construction is underway, Anchor Detroit will have limited activity in most areas. Additionally, our Youth and Community Engagement team will be actively involved, keeping the community informed and connected. Community members can expect pop-up programming, resource giveaways, and engagement opportunities throughout the construction period.

We’re committed to ensuring the community remains engaged and involved as Anchor Detroit undergoes this exciting transformation. Stay tuned for updates, events, and ways to stay connected throughout construction.
