Omari Taylor

Most of us don’t remember being 8 years old.

For Omari Taylor, Chief Development Officer at Life Remodeled, it was an unforgettable year.

His family moved from Decatur to Detroit… He discovered his faith… And he met his future wife.

From there… A love for his adopted hometown, for sharing the gospel through song, and of course for Catheren, evolved into a professional life of service to community, God, and family.

Prior to joining LR, he served as the Director of Executive & Internal Communications at Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan for over 12 years. He also held various positions at South Oakland Shelter (Chief Development Officer), Neighborhood Service Organization (Vice President of Corporate Development), and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (Marketing Manager).

A strong advocate for the community’s most vulnerable residents, Omari has dedicated his professional life to nonprofit work, with more than 20 years of experience in fundraising, marketing, brand management, media planning, and corporate communication.

Notably, he was named a 2015 International Ford Motor Company Fellow and awarded a 3-week residency in New York City with 20 emerging leaders from different regions of the world, including classes in nonprofit management strategy at Columbia and Yale Universities.

Omari is equally proud of his accomplishments beyond the nonprofit world. His Christian music group, Friends Vocal Ensemble, has performed at the Max M. Fisher Music Center, during WDIV’s America’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and at Detroit’s Noel Night and Winter Magic Events at Campus Martius Park. And he is thrilled to currently be in the studio working on his first gospel music album.

Through 15 years of marriage, perhaps his proudest achievements though are his four young children — and the peace he keeps between their Giant Schnauzer and not-so-giant Yorkie.
