Rhonda Evans
With a degree in Fine Arts concentrating on Communications Design from Detroit’s esteemed College of Creative Studies, Rhonda Evans knows how to make a statement.
In fact, she summed up her entire life’s philosophy in just three simple words on a t-shirt she designed: Faith Plus Works.
From an early age, inspired by her Motown roots and Christian faith, she first found creative expression through music. Often backed by her big musical family, she performed as a studio singer, in various groups, and even served as choir director of the church she’s proudly attended on Detroit’s East Side for over 30 years.
A Detroit Public Schools student, Rhonda discovered — and taught herself — graphic design at the age of 15, developing bulletins for that church before earning her first freelance jobs.
Though she began working as a bank teller after graduation, the financial crisis of 2008 created the opportunity she needed to formally pursue her passion for design. After submitting her freelance portfolio, she was immediately accepted into CCS — on scholarship no less.
From there, she accepted a position as Graphic Designer at WDIV-TV Channel 4, before furthering her experience as Communications Specialist and Graphic Designer at the University of Detroit Mercy.
Throughout her professional career, Rhonda has also made time to give back to the community she calls home, putting those words — Faith Plus Works — into action. For over a decade, she has volunteered as Director of Media and Communications for Open Door Church of Detroit, teaching teens and adults skills in team building and media development.
And now, as Marketing Director at Life Remodeled, her mantra rings truer than ever. With her faith as her guide, she puts her creativity to work every day to communicate the LR vision and inspire others to join the cause, whether it be through sponsorship, volunteerism, or — as Rhonda has proven — the talents we all have within.
