PRESS RELEASE: LIFE REMODELED CELEBRATES 15 YEARS BY WELCOMING NEW ERA OF LEADERSHIP
Founder Chris Lambert passes the CEO torch to Diallo Smith, Life Remodeled’s current President and COO
DETROIT (March 6, 2025) – After 15 years of serving as CEO of Life Remodeled, founder Chris Lambert announced today that he will be stepping down from his role to pursue additional opportunities that align with Life Remodeled’s overall mission of creating neighborhood revitalization that lasts. Diallo Smith, the organization’s current President and COO, will be appointed CEO.
Smith will leverage his vast experience with Life Remodeled, as well as his valuable professional experience and history as a Detroit native, to ensure a smooth transition and continued growth for the organization. While Chris Lambert is stepping down as CEO, he will remain closely connected to the organization, serving as a champion for Life Remodeled and its vital work.
“When I launched Life Remodeled, I set out to partner with communities and organizations to create neighborhood revitalization that lasts,” said Lambert. “We are entering into an exciting new era of leadership that reflects the communities we serve and continues to strengthen the foundation we’ve built. I look forward to continuing to serve on the organization’s board, becoming the biggest Life Remodeled champion ever seen, and also taking on a new endeavor that will help significantly increase impact in the nonprofit sector globally.”
This transition is a pivotal moment for Life Remodeled and one of the most exciting shifts the organization has seen since launching in 2010. With Smith at the helm, the organization intends to continue its mission of building community and creating opportunities that help Detroiters and beyond thrive.
“I’m honored to step into this leadership role as CEO,” Smith stated. “Life Remodeled is an extraordinary organization with a dedicated and intentional team. I am eager to continue working with our incredible team and partners to further our mission of improving the quality of life for those across this incredible city.”
Life Remodeled’s CEO transition will officially begin at the nonprofit’s annual Prom Remodeled fundraising event on April 26 at the Durfee Innovation Society, the organization’s innovative
Opportunity Hub. Learn more about Life Remodeled, the CEO transition and Prom Remodeled at www.liferemodeled.org.
About Life Remodeled
There’s a lot of talk but not enough walk when it comes to revitalizing Detroit neighborhoods. Detroiters have all the talent they need, but many don’t have access to all the opportunities they deserve. Therefore, Life Remodeled repurposes vacant school buildings into one stop hubs of opportunity for entire families to thrive. LR fills these iconic buildings with the best and brightest nonprofit organizations who are providing youth programs, workforce development, and human services to tens of thousands of students and community members. LR helps their nonprofit tenants collaborate and create far greater life transformation together than was previously possible alone. Together, they ensure more:
- Detroit students perform at/above grade level in math and reading
- Families have access to essential health and wellness services
- Community members obtain higher-paying jobs and achieve economic self-sufficiency
